Then the conversation got around to how easy it was to get a Territorial DL. Mom said she doesn't remember all the specifics, but she said it was good knowing the Police Chief.  She said that Uncle Billy got his license in the mail without taking a driving test and then she said that your Dad showed up to take his test in the old truck that the family owned.  She said that the inspector didn't want to get in the truck and dirty his uniform so he told your dad to drive around the block to pass the test”.67

-How my sibling and I were taught about meals and food: “Take the saying to “eat what is set before you.” At our house, sayings like this were translated into expected behaviors. The customs and etiquettes at the dinner table led to expectations and manners set by our parents. At our house, you were expected to eat the dinner that was set. Waste, ‘uha’uha, was another rule of life. Wasting food was especially unacceptable. At our house, you were expected to clean your plate, you were also expected to eat at least one bite of everything that was served.”68
