-His Birth Surname before adoption was Machado.
-We (Toni and I) always thought that Thz Fo adopted Irmina's 5 portuguese children but we have discovered that they didn't bother with formalities. They simply changed their name to Farm. CK discovered this when he went to Dayton to school. He needed his birth certificate and he found out that he was officially Manuel Machado. I do not know if he officially changed his name.635
-Thz Fo changed his name from Manuel to Manley.785
-”Up to his death he played golf, bowled, and was the featured singer and ukulele player in a large group that played for the elderly and shut ins. At his funeral, the group attended and performed. There were also several Hawaiian singers and dancers that performed at the funeral”.785
-”Story has it that my father was named CK after a then famous jockey. Seems that dad, as a young boy, got into a horse drawn cart and it ran away with him”.785
-He was the orginator of the Luau Serenaders and a charter member of the Milton Athletic Club. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and Ukuleleians from the Lathrem Senior Center. He was with the Paradise Islanders for over 20 yrs. He retired from Reynold’s and Reynold’s after 20 yrs.783

-I believe the CK stands for Crazy Kid which is what a neighbor called him because he rode a wagon recklessly down a steep hill. The name stuck.635
-Concerning Uncle CK's name, my father told me that Uncle CK drove a horse drawn cart down Metcalf St. which is the street that comes down the hill from the University to Wilder Ave. There was a shop on the corner of Metcalf and Wilder and the shopkeeper saw CK driving this cart very recklessly down the hill and called him a Crazy Kid = CK. I believe this story because I know the hill and remember that there was a shop there. Perhaps Uncle CK wanted to enhance his name with the "name " of a famous jockey instead of the Crazy Kid meaning. Anyway, I believe my father's version.95
