Apparently dropping off to sleep in the early morning hrs. of the morning, the veteran policeman had driven his car off the road, crashed into a mango tree on Goverment Rd. in Pearl City, where his body was found in the wreckage a few minutes later by a passing motorist.
He was a native of Kalauao, born Aug. 21, 1872, and is survived by two adopted sons, David and William Kaleikau, and a daughter, Mrs. Rose Farm of Ewa."106

-William Kaleikau got there to see his body lying on the ground before the sheriff came and took him to Waipahu Hospital. There were 20 or more cops that stood guard over his body at the mortuary. 20 motorcycle cops lead the procession to the cemetery.873

-5/8/31 -- The auto would have been an Oldsmobile police car, because the company to where it was finally disposed of, Schuman Carriage Co., only sold Olds models.115 The vehicle was a total loss and returned to Schmann Carriage Co. The police insurance, in the amount of $1,500 went to his beneficiary, Rose Farm (Probate Records).107,874

-The cemetery is not owned by the church. It is owned by the families. In the old days, the Portuguese lived in the area. The church was a mission and the priests would take the records home with them.66

4/6/31 - Joseph Mahi came in and said note of 5/1/30 was given to David Kaohi when Kaohi endoresed Mahi’s note at Pearl Harbor bank. Said note to be cancelled when note with bank was paid.
Bank note showing paid and cancelled 9/30/30. Mahi said H. C. Walters, Mgr. of Bank suggested said procedure and knew all about it. Note that date stamp May 1, 1930, both notes are indentical.
4/7/31 - Telephone and found Walters gone on vacation for 3 mos. to 6/30/31
4/7/31 - Farm, son-in-law of descendent and claimant says not satisfied until Walters return and settles matter.

-She was a member of “Hale O Na Alii O Hawaii”.856 One of the four royal Hawaiian societies. The society was originally founded by King David Kalakaua as the Hale Naua Science Society in 1886 with the purpose of gathering and preserving the knowledge of the alii and kahuna, and to promote the advancement of modern science, art and literature. In 1911 the society was renamed Ka Hale O Na Alii, became inactive and was then re-established in 1918 as Hale O Na Alii O Hawaii. Is a benevolent organization that was founded by Princess Abigail Wahiikaahuula Kawananakoa in 1918. She was the daughter of James Campbell and Abigail Kuaihelani Maipinepine of Lahaina, Maui. Her desire was to establish an association to unite and uphold the morale of the Hawaiian people, their culture, gain a deeper respect for each other and perpetuate Hawaiian heritage. The society is also a response to the disruptive historical periods where Hawaiians were dying in great numbers and the end of life protocols were not being performed. It’s really about honoring those people as they pass and making sure they have proper burials because that was a huge concern right around when a lot of Hawaiians were dying from disease. There weren’t places to bury them. There are protocols that aren’t publicly shared, but need to be perpetuated. (Compilation of an article found on the internet)
