-She was given up for adoption because her real mother was too sick to care for her. In those days girls were rubbish; they wanted boys. They had too many girls, so they gave them away. En Oi didn’t have any children and her parents, Apo and Akun were good friends with her biological mother. They had too many girls so they gave one away. Ruth doesn’t know what the real reason was for being placed for adoption. She was 1 week old whe she was given up for adoption.213
